Crit at Unitec

Today our group travelled to Unitec to present our proposals to some critics.
The crit went really well and we are all very excited about the development of this project.
We showed a 1:2 Prototype of one of the units in our light club.
Here are some of the image slides we showed below and a video outlining the seating area with projections:

More edited Photos to come.. [Images in one layout page] Rough at the moment.

We showed them our 3 concepts and received a lot of positive feedback.
Here are some aspects of our design that could be picked up from our talk with them:

-Want the light club to accommodate 300-600 people.
-Music set: Electronica music (examples such as defqon)
-Interactivity needs to be developed : Xbox Kinect - peoples movement influences the projections.
projections could be a live stream/ representation of an event happening.
-Bar area (non alcoholic beverages) : Something different and unique such as tank juice instead of fizzy drinks.
-Require a seating area where people are able to chill out during the night.
-Time : 8pm-1am

On another note here's a nice photo of the sunset on the way back to Auckland! :)

White Elephant Trust

Great News!!

We are excited to announce the White Elephant Trust as our client for our light club.
From here we will be working closely with the White Elephant Trust to create our light club. Our goal will be to invigorate the city with a stunning display of visuals and interactivity. This is also a great opportunity for Christchurch and its young leaders to develop social skills and collaborate with Team Kloud to create a extraordinary night on the 20th October 2012.

The WHITE ELEPHANT TRUST is youth-led. They find creative, innovative ways for Christchurch youth to have fun while also contributing positively to their community. They cultivate leadership and facilitate positive youth development of young people aged 15-25. White Elephant coordinates and promotes sustainable projects by youth that are socially credible, safe and drug and alcohol-free.

Precedent Studies

Here are several precedent studies we have been looking at for our design. Some of these aspects are quite interesting and could be applied to our light club.

PROJECTION ONE:
http://www.liftarchitects.com/journal/2011/6/14/projection-one.html

This concept of many layers of mesh could be applied to our design to create three dimensionality. The projection of patterns could be adopted to generate fluidity and movement as seen in the video.

SHROUDED ARCHITECTURE:

Interesting mesh architecture blog in New Zealand. Types of materials used could be possible in our design/concept. The use of large scale machinery and scaffolding relates to our light club.
